The beach, the village, the coast
Argelès comes in three parts: the old village inland, the beach and its seafront, and the harbour. To the south, the Côte Vermeille road climbs towards Collioure, Port-Vendres and Banyuls.
The Albères range closes the horizon and runs down to the sea. It is the last spur of the Pyrenees before the Spanish border.
A family transfer
One or two families heading on holiday arrive with suitcases, pushchairs, sometimes beach gear. A single shuttle takes the lot and stops in front of the rental: no train change, no splitting across several cars.
The road runs through the Lauragais and the Aude. Carcassonne and Castelnaudary are on the way and can become a stop rather than a motorway sign.
