The festival
Jazz in Marciac takes the village over every summer: a big top, open-air stages, free concerts on the arcaded square. The audience comes from all over the region, and the village was never built for that.
In practice, parking nearby is hard and concerts end late. A driver who drops you at the entrance and picks you up afterwards removes both problems at once.
The rest of the year
Outside the festival, Marciac is a classic bastide: a square framed by arcades, the church of Notre-Dame with its tall spire, a lake below. It makes a quiet stop on a day given over to the Gers.
Auch, the county town, lies in the same direction out of Toulouse: the two link up in a single day.
